The Winter Warmer: Shared Ecologies is a curatorial partnership with Sidewalk Labs Toronto—a New York and Toronto-based urban design company that is exploring technologically-driven urban planning. Bringing together my interest in urban space as a place for temporary art interventions, with an understanding of art as a tool for knowledge-development, Sidewalk Toronto supported my work as a Curator in Residence starting in Fall 2018. This project resulted in a four-month artist’s residency by Kavi (Ilze Briede), who worked on projection-mapping installations for one of Sidewalk’s prototype projects, as well as a one-day exhibition for the Winter Warmer at the 307 office space in an industrial area at the edge of Lake Ontario.

The Winter Warmer featured:

Sara Swain - “Feral Hospitality: Making Space for Multispecies Co-existence in Kedi” (Lecture)

Artificial Nature (Haru Hyunkyung Ji & Graham Wakefield) - Conservation of Shadows

Michael Palumbo - Recursive Writing

Nicole Clouston - Lake Ontario Portrait (Port Lands)

Jason Logan - Toronto Ink Company Painting Sessions

Kavi - Raincoat Projection
